About one month after the Joplin Tornado in 2011, I shot a Kansas wedding featuring Nate & Jordan, two of the very sweetest clients I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. They were so gracious, kind, and genuine; their wedding is still a favorite of mine to look back through.
So often, people will tell me ‘you’re totally shooting our family pictures later!’ after I shoot their wedding. But let me tell you, Nate & Jordan were NOT KIDDING. Even though they now live in Wyoming, they came back down for a visit now that their marriage is 3 years old and their little one is one year old, and planned the shoot months ago to make sure I could get it in while they were here.
These are the things that remind me why I love doing what I do and working with the people I do. So honored to be able to capture little Brooklyn’s first professional pictures, and good GOSH is she cute…
PS: HUGE thanks to the folks over at Paramount Real Estate for letting me use their building!!
As most of you know, Joplin MO hosts a sweet event every month known as ‘third thursday’, during which folks come out to eat some delicious downtown food, view local art, and participate in 9art’s themed photobooth.
This is the 2nd month Michelle & I have set things up in the upstairs at Spiva Center for the Arts, and we continue to be honored and delighted that they’ve allowed us to partner with them.
I’m also super excited about the pictures from this month. When I said we were doing a ‘fairy tale’ theme, I had princess dresses and a Disney sort of look in mind… but the theme is always at the mercy (or benefit) of the props we come up with.
I’m EXTREMELY fortunate to be friends with folks who don’t think dress up should only be taken seriously when you’re a kid. Special thanks to Ellie Soderstrom, Kolurz Voss (pictured at the very bottom of this post), and others who graciously donated their goodies for us to use this month. The booth definitely ended up taking more of a ‘game of thrones’ feel than straight up ‘fairy tale’ haha, but I think it turned out perfect. This was me, testing out some of the borrowed items… the broadsword is actually borrowed for a separate series I’m working on, and was, alas, a bit too realistic (ala dangerous) to have out at the booth. Doesn’t mean I couldn’t wield it in the parking lot…
(photo credit to Drew Kimble, who happened to be wandering through the parking lot when I was pulling medieval weapons out of my minivan).
Enjoy looking through these, and just so you know, it’s only a preview… the FULL BATCH will hit facebook sometime in the next week-to-week-&-1/2. Thanks guys! 🙂
Michelle & Buddy picked a beautiful day and a beautiful spot to say their vows… and having photographed this family for the past year or two at the third thursday Photo Booth (as well as a family session last year), I was pretty amped up to finally be able to shoot the big day.
Here’s Michelle, Buddy, and their beautiful girls…
