This was a wedding made up of many great little moments; laughing, crying, and huge love. And honestly the best wedding performance I’ve probably ever heard- the groom’s heartfelt and surprising version of ‘can’t help falling in love’ might also double as the best elvis impression ever- and all this is not to mention some of the funkiest dancing that I’ve seen take place at a reception. Folks, you know how to throw a party- and readers, you can check into my FB page soon (here), become fans by ‘liking’ the page and take a closer look at those moments captured through-out the day.
I visited Tony & Angel at their home for this shoot that celebrated their two year anniversary. Tony pulled out his record collection, and I confess that I am still a little jealous. I’m also jealous of the fact that his turntable works whereas mine does not at the moment. But enough with the jealousy…
We chatted a bit, had some iced tea and then I got to shooting with a little She & Him, Ray Charles, and Beatles for our soundtrack. I felt a bit spoiled. Then we headed outside, lugging Tony’s drum set with us, finishing out the shoot in the Otero’s own back yard. It was truly a lot of fun… thanks to this kind couple for their hospitality and for bearing with me each time I took forever to perfect the lighting.
PS- you all have seen my work for local organization Rapha House… well Tony has also donated his time to Rapha with his graphic design work (if you’ve been into the Rapha house base on main street, you’ve seen it). Now wish these two well and maybe say a little prayer for them as they prepare to take a trip into Cambodia for the organization later this year!
Emily & Matt are one of those couples that I feel like I’ve known forever. We even cha-cha’d alongside eachother last year while they and my wife and I were coincidentally both enrolled in the ‘tanglefooters dance club’. Given my coordination, the cha-cha-ing only lasted so long, but it was still fun. The couple has an excellent sense of humor and things flowed along well during the wedding day as they joked about my ghetto broken flash umbrella (it met its’ last day that day) and managed to be themselves even through the usual wedding day stress.
These two also made me very happy by choosing the most beautiful spots for their day- they were married at St Peters’ church here in Joplin, then had their reception at the Ramsey downtown later in the day. This is not to mention the freshly restored 67′ pick-up that I couldn’t stop taking pictures of.
Congratulations to the happy couple as they enjoy a honeymoon in sunny Florida.
My newest wedding was here in Joplin, and it was gorgeous. Nikki & Ryan were very down-to-earth and easy to work with, and I captured a lot of very fun candids that I just (sadly) didn’t have room to show here. I definitely wanted to show off some of my favorite elements though… including the amazing veil, the beautiful church, the bouquet, the shoes, a kiss at sunset and one hilariously moody little girl.
The wedding season started off with a bang. You already met Lance and Tara (here) last winter when they had their engagement pictures done- and the wedding day itself was amazing. It was hard to narrow it down to the few shots shown below, especially with as many pictures as I had of the amazing dance party that followed during the reception. If you’d like to see more, visit a larger sampling from the day on my facebook page (here)

Last wedding of the season; what a day to go out on! This couple made things as fun for me as any couple could… blasting out some white stripes during the shoot (which made me pretty happy, alright) and doing plenty of dancing and laughing before and after the ceremony. Everyone had fun and joy flowed freely in this gorgeous backyard in Miami Oklahoma… thanks for an amazing day, Matt and Jameson!!
With a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the perfect time of day, Hillary and Justin couldn’t have asked for a better setting for their wedding. Or me, for that matter! Thanks so much to the couple for letting me be there to capture the memories.
Tensions ran low during this wedding; Krista and Matt knew how to keep it casual and stress free, and were a pleasure to work with. Their patience was appreciated as I snapped away under some of the highest temperatures I’ve worked in… it was a warm one but beautiful and the pictures came out great!
This was, hands down, one of the most fun weddings I’ve shot. Part of it was having already known some of the wedding party… part of it was that Doug and Sarah aren’t afraid to be themselves (that is, a little goofy) and that’s something I can appreciate thoroughly. We laughed a lot, stress was kept down to an impressive minimum, and most importantly, these two are MARRIED now! Congrats, guys!!!
